PEN-Films

Insulation class F (155 °C) to UL 546B

PEN films are extruded films made from polyethylene naphthalate with thermally and chemically enhanced properties as compared with PET polyester films. PEN films include Teonex® from DuPont, for example.

Main propertiesDelivered as
  • High dielectric strength
  • High mechanical strength
  • Can be easily shaped
  • Standard type for electrical applications: Teonex® Q51
  • Thicknesses between 0.019 and 0.250 mm
  • Delivered as original rolls
  • narrow strips (also self adhesive)
  • shaped and stamped parts
  • Original roll widths: up to 1850mm

Polyester film (PET)

Insulation class B (130°C) to VDE or 105 °C (UL 546 B)

  • Polyester films are extruded films made from polyethylene terephthalate (condensate from ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid) and have been used for many years as electrical insulating materials and for many other industrial applications (for example, packing, printing, etc.).
  • Polyester films include Mylar®, Melinex®, for example.
Main properties Delivered as
  • High dielectric strength
  • High mechanical strength
  • Can be easily shaped
  • Reasonably priced class B (130°C) insulating material
  • Thicknesses between 0.019 and 0.500 mm
  • Standard type for electrical applications: Mylar® A
  • Special versions and types available on request (e.g. white, coated, low oligomer, pre-shrunk, surface treated, perforated, etc.)

  • original rolls
  • narrow strips (also self adhesive)
  • shaped and stamped parts
  • Original roll widths: up to 1850mm

Release film TR

Modified polypropylene films as release films for all common resin types used in electrical machine construction

Release film TR is highly tear, impact, and puncture resistant. It is also extremely low-temperature resistant (cold crack temperature < -60°C) and dimensionally stable with varying air humidity.

Main properties Delivered as
  • antistatic
  • resistant to tropical conditions
  • oil and grease resistant
  • low water vapor permeability
  • Delivered as original rolls with a width of 1400mm or 1000mm or in narrow strip rolls, cut to customer-specific widths, wound onto paper board rolls.
  • Also available in PERFORATED form.
